    Ruthin & Garwa
    Bridgend, Bridgend  view map
The site consists of two disused limestone quarries to the south east of Pencoed. Ruthin Quarry is approximately 41 acres in size. It benefits from a large area of hardstanding at the entrance. Beyond the hardstanding, the ground drops down to the bowl of the quarry. In the bowl are a number of self-seeded trees. Garwa Quarry is approximately 44 acres. It has dramatic rock faces which drop down to a flooded base. The waterbody benefits from good access to it. In addition, there is a derelict house above Garwa Quarry. Pasture surrounds both sites.
